A New Standard for the CANAL+ Platform

Project background
The CANAL+ platform is a modern pay-TV service offering a wide range of programming. It provides access to premium sports events, blockbuster films, TV series, and original documentaries.
CANAL+ also delivers high-speed LTE internet, mobile telephony, and a unique “TV in your pocket” service, allowing users to watch content via the nc+ GO app or ncplusgo.pl without consuming their data allowance.
Challenge
The client approached us to update their website to meet the company’s technological standards – ensuring responsiveness, performance, and a user-friendly experience. The main challenges included:
Eliminating technical debt from the existing system
Refactoring the codebase – a complete redevelopment of the Canal+ website
Enabling editors to use advanced Sitecore tools, including Marketing Automation and Experience Editor in Sitecore 9.1

In response to Canal+’s requirements, we conducted a comprehensive business and technical analysis for the Sitecore upgrade. As part of the code refactoring, we designed and implemented over 100 modules. The modular architecture allows editors to manage content more efficiently, create pages faster, and scale the system for future development.
Numerous subsites and subpages under the pl.canalplus.com domain were built using these modules. The upgrade to Sitecore v9.1 also enabled the use of advanced Sitecore Marketing Automation tools. Key outcomes of Infinity Group’s work include:
- Full project transition and assumption of support for the Sitecore environment
- Upgrade from Sitecore v7.5 to v9.1, followed by an update to v9.3
- WCAG compliance implementation
- SEO optimisation
- Deployment of personalisation and marketing automation mechanisms
- Development and implementation of a data-driven strategy
- Ongoing development of new features (e.g., TV programme, rebranding) alongside daily maintenance
- Dedicated support team with scalable project teams
Project scope
Analysis: analysis of business processes, technology, challenges, and objectives; functional and technical review; project documentation; workshops with the client.
Solution design: implementation concept; technical design including physical and logical architecture.
Implementation: Sitecore v9.1 deployment; code refactoring; SEO and WCAG optimisation; module management via Experience Editor; content migration; functional and performance testing; web analytics and marketing automation.
