Project background

Schmitz Cargobull is the European market leader in the production of semi-trailers, trailers, and truck bodies. This family-owned company, with more than 130 years of tradition, employs over 6,500 people and generates an annual turnover exceeding €2 billion (2018/19 data).

The company’s ambition is to maintain its position as an innovation leader in logistics – both in terms of product solutions and digital transformation. As part of this strategy, Schmitz Cargobull sought to build a consistent, global web ecosystem supporting marketing and sales activities across more than 30 countries.

As a long-term technology partner, Infinity Group was entrusted with designing and implementing the tools, processes, and solutions enabling efficient management of this global system on the Sitecore platform.

The implementation required not only advanced technological expertise, but also effective project coordination across multiple countries and teams working in parallel.

Solution

Together with Schmitz Cargobull, we delivered a comprehensive implementation and continuous development of a global content management ecosystem based on Sitecore.

Key elements included:

  • Designing a new information architecture built on a master English version – each localised site followed the same content tree structure.
  • Implementing over 30 localised websites with full synchronisation and ongoing content updates.
  • Standarising localisation workflows, while allowing for flexibility in adapting content to local markets.
  • Leveraging SXA to accelerate development, enable reusability of components, layouts, and templates across the ecosystem.
  • Utilising EXM to support global and local marketing automation and email communication.
  • Conducting editor training sessions for teams in more than 30 countries – delivered across multiple time zones alongside site launches.

*The project marked the beginning of a long-term partnership with Schmitz Cargobull. Since the initial rollout, the system has been continuously developed and updated. As of the second half of 2025, it runs on Sitecore.NET 10.3.3 (rev. 011967 PRE).

With a clear content structure, reusability of assets, and standarised editorial processes, Schmitz Cargobull can efficiently scale its digital presence without losing control over quality and consistency.

Importantly, the initial implementation phase was completed a week ahead of schedule, made possible through excellent collaboration between Schmitz Cargobull and Infinity Group teams.
